History

Born from the Fear Threshold, the group first played on the tracks of Pink Floyd and Roxy Music. Elements of rock, classical and jazz have been processed. After successful live performances Alquin was - named after the medieval scholars - taken by Polydor under contract.

In 1972, a first LP, after the second the following year, the group was named " Trendsetter of the Year" in the Netherlands. Performances at Liverpool's Cavern and London's Marquee Club followed. Tours in Germany, England ( with Golden Earring) and France followed ( as the opening act for The Who). The third LP aimed specifically on the international market.

With the inclusion of Michel van Dijk, who came from groups such as Brainbox and Ekseption ago when lead singer, the style of the band was much more rock. The album Nobody can wait forever was a commercial success, but the fractures within the band could not cover. After a tour in the Netherlands and the accompanying double LP is Alquin dissolves.

In 1995 there was a reunion concert in Delft, where most of the founding members originate. After a subsequent tour, the group stayed together and took on new material.

By 2012, the band stayed together after that, then there was a break in the van Dijk and Bakker in pairs as Lone Project released an album together.
