The airfield Ambri -Piotta ( ICAO: LSPM ) is a Swiss airfield, which serves general aviation. It is located near by Ambri in the political community Quinto TI. The airport serves the surrounding region and is also home to a paragliding school and a helicopter base.

The airfield is located on the valley floor of the Levantine, a valley with steep sides. To the north of the airfield run the A2 motorway and the Ticino, in the south there is the Gotthard railway line and the villages and Ambri Piotta.

History

The airfield Ambri -Piotta was created during the Second World War as the basis of the Swiss Air Force. The eighth season was located in Ambri.

The surrounding the airfield mountains included bunker where aircraft and troops were housed. The bunkers were achieved over rolling fields, who carried out under the A2 and the Ticino crossed, to end in the mountain.

1994, the air base was closed. Since then, the airport is used for civilian purposes. The bunkers still exist today; However, they are empty.
