American Birkebeiner

American Birkebeiner (Brief description Birkie ) is the largest ski marathon in the USA and North America. The race has been held since 1973 between Cable and Hayward ( Wisconsin). The routes of the main runs are 54 km ( classic technique ) and 50km ( free technique ) long. In addition, two shorter distances over 23 km ( Kortelopet ) and 12 km (Prince Haakon ) are offered, which start and end in Cable. The race is held every year in February and belongs to the series of Worldloppet runs.

The name of the race draws on the Birkebeinerrennet in Norway.
