Anderson Mazoka

Anderson Kambela Mazoka (* March 22, 1943, † 24 May 2006, South Africa ) was a Zambian politician and presidential candidate.

Mazoka acquired in 1969 the degree of mechanical engineer after studying at Union College.

After studying Mazoka was appointed among others by former president Kenneth Kaunda to the Director General of the Railway Company Zambia Railways. Later he was president of the Zambian Anglo - American Corporation ( South Africa).

The chairman of the biggest Zambian opposition United Party for National Development ( UPND ) candidate in the election in Zambia in 2001 for his party for the presidency and was 27.2 percent of the vote, second behind the current president Levy Mwanawasa. Mwanawasa won it a lead of 35,000 votes, international election observers noted serious deficiencies in preparation, implementation and counting of elections. For the election in Zambia in 2006 he organized the election Bündes United Democratic Alliance, whose chairman he was and that he should run for president.

Successor of the deceased on 24 May 2006 from kidney failure Mazoka as chairman UPND was Hakainde Hichilema.
