Hakainde Hichilema

Hakainde Hichilema ( born June 4, 1962 in Hachipona in Monze ) is a politician in Zambia.

Training

Hakainde Hichilema was born in Hachipona, a village west of Monze in Zambia. He attended from 1969 Mooya primary school, from 1973 Nkandela school and made in 1980 at the Kalomo secondary school leaving exams. After that, he served for six months to the National Service Camp in Mushili at Ndola. From 1981 to 1986 he studied Business and Management at the University of Zambia. Hichilema Tonga and is married to Mutinta Hichilema, with whom he has three children, daughter, Miyanda (* 1994) and the two sons Habwela (* 1997) and Chikonda (* 2000).

Professional career

His career were: Equator Advisory Services, Assistant Consultant, 1986; Coopers & Lybrand, restructuring of the Industrial Development Corporation ( indeco ), 1986; then follow different positions; Director, Management Consulting, 1989; CEO, 1994-1998. He now works as a Managing Director at Grant Thornton Limited, a consulting for audit, corporate finance and consulting. In this function he performs the following duties:

Political career

Hichilema is President of the United Party for National Development ( UPND ). He followed in this function the late Anderson Mazoka. He is also president of the electoral alliance United Democratic Alliance ( UDA ).

At the election in Zambia 2006, he was set up by the United Democratic Alliance as a candidate for the presidency of Zambia. He reached with 25.32 percent of the vote while just behind Michael Sata third place, but proved to be a political heavyweight and hope, which can be based on the Zambian economy and much of the modernizing elite of the country. Many see him as the successor of the incumbent president Levy Mwanawasa.
