Andilly (Haute-Savoie)

Andilly is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Andilly is located on 735 m above sea level. M., about 19 km north of the town of Annecy (air line). The multi- settlement parts congregation extends a scenic location on the upper southern slopes of the Montagne de Sion, a western foothills of the Salève, high above the valley of the Usses, in Genevois.

The area of ​​6.07 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Genevois. The area is divided by the small valley of the Nant Trouble and the Ruisseau de la Férande that supply their water the Usses. To the south, the municipality area extends into the forest area of ​​the Bois Chardon. The northern part is occupied by the broad crest of the Montagne de Sion, on the 857 m above sea level. The community Andilly consists of three clearly separated small villages and some villages:

  • Charly (780 m above sea level. M. ) on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Sion
  • Jussy ( 735 m above sea level. M. ) on the main road high above the valley of the Usses
  • Saint- Symphorien (660 m above sea level. M. ) on a ridge above the valley of the Usses

Neighboring communities of Andilly are verse and Présilly in the north, Saint -Blaise in the east, the south and Copponex Cernex in the West.

History

In 1860 Andilly was assigned to the newly created Canton Cruseilles, previously it was part of the canton of Saint -Julien -en- Genevois.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Symphorien was built in the 15th century and later remodeled. In Charly is a chapel, dedicated to Saint- Jacques and was also built in the late Gothic style in the 15th century.

Population

With 790 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Andilly is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were Andilly still counted 681 inhabitants). Since the early 1980s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area again.

Economy and infrastructure

Andilly is a predominantly coined by agriculture village today. There are also some plants of the local small business sector. Many working population commuters going about their work in the larger towns in the area as well as in space Annecy and Geneva - Annemasse.

The place is a good infrastructure. The district Jussy is located on the N201 ( Saint -Julien -en- Genevois - Annecy ). Further road links exist with Valleiry, Cernex and Saint -Blaise. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 10 km.
