Andrei Lutai
Andrei Lutai (Russian: Андрей Владимирович Лутай, born July 24, 1986 in Belgorod, Soviet Union ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in a single run.
Lutai began in 1991 with the figure skating. He has two siblings, who were also sent by his mother, a speech therapist in kindergarten, for figure skating. His 15 years older sister Jelena is figure skating coach and was until he was 12 years old his trainer, his brother Alexander works as a manager in a company. Once in his home town of Belgorod the ice rink was closed, he went for a year to Samara before he moved in 2001 to Saint Petersburg to train with Alexei Mishin and his wife Tatjana in Jubileiny Sports Complex. The change in the training group had organized Mischins older sister Lutais. In 2005, he broke his foot, an injury that disabled him again and again in later years.
After he had reached with second place at the Russian Championships for the first time on the podium, he made his debut in 2007 at the World and European Championships and ended with the twentieth, or from fifth place. The following year he was again runner-up Russian. At the European Championships he finished eighth in the World Cup he did not participate. In 2009 he went as a national third party for the European Championship and reached the seventh place. At the World Cup he finished tenth.
After the tenth place in the Grand Prix competition Skate America in November 2009 Lutai was arrested in Lake Placid, New York. He was accused of tax on car theft and drunkenness. Lutai pleaded not guilty. After three days he was released from prison. The Russian figure skating federation locked Lutai for a year, so he missed the Olympic Games in Vancouver.
In April 2010 Lutai married in Sofia, the Bulgarian ice skater Ina Demirewa, sister of Eistanzweltmeisterin Albena Denkowa. Their daughter came in September of the same year to the world. Since early 2010 Lutai lives in Sofia and trained with his wife and Denkowa Albena and Maxim Stawiski in the figure skating club. Among his pupils Georgi Kentschadse heard.
Lutai hopes to say that he wants to get active again in the 2011/12 season.
