Andrew Lock

Andrew James Lock OAM ( born December 26, 1961) is an Australian climber. He is the first Australian and the 18th person ever, which climb all eight-thousanders, so all 14 mountains on earth with an altitude above 8000 meters, succeeded. Lock needed for this a little more than 16 years: On his first eight thousand meter peak, K2, he was on 30 July 1993 On 24 May 2000 he stood for the first time on Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. . With the ascent of Shishapangma on October 2, 2009, he completed the eight-thousanders list. He had only used when climbing Mount Everest additional oxygen bottles. These and Cho Oyu he ascended in duplicate, so that he stood on a eight-thousanders total of 16 times; besides, he was twice on the central summit of Shishapangma, which is also over 8000 meters high.
