Angaston, South Australia
Angaston is a town in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, 77 kilometers north-east of Adelaide. The town was founded in 1842. The first settlers were mostly British and German. The name of the town father, George Fife Angas (1789 - 1879), had invested in the young South Australian colony.
Angaston is located at an altitude of 374 meters and has 1,865 inhabitants ( 2006).
Today Angaston is known for its wineries. The best known are Yalumba and Saltram Winery.
