Angelica Domröse

Angelica Domröse ( born April 4, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German stage and film actress who was The Legend of Paul and Paula one of the most famous actresses of the GDR primarily for her role as single young mother "Paula" in Heiner Carow's cult film.

Life

Angelica Domröse grew up fatherless in Berlin. After training as a shorthand typist, she worked in a state-owned foreign trade company in the GDR. In 1958 she was discovered by director Slatan Dudow during a casting for the film confusion of love. She attended until 1961 the Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam and then belonged to 1966, the Berliner Ensemble, where she was seen among others in Bertolt Brecht's Threepenny Opera, Schweik in the Second World War and The Days of the Commune and Helmut Baierls woman Flinz. After that she was engaged until 1979 at the Volksbühne Berlin. Here she acted in plays by George Bernard Shaw, Henrik Ibsen, William Shakespeare and Peter Hacks. Angelica Domröse is married to actor Hilmar Thate since 1976; before she was married from 1966 to 1975 with the actor Jiří Vršťala.
