Angus (film)

Angus - so cool ( original title: Angus ). 's An American- British-French - German comedy film directed by Patrick Read Johnson in 1995 as a literary work was the short story A Brief Moment In The Life of Angus Bethune by Chris Crutcher.

Action

Angus Bethune is a 14 year old, overweight boy. He is shy and insecure, but is considered to be a good student. Troy Wedberg is his only real friend.

Angus thinks much to Melissa Lefevre, attended the same school as him. She has a boyfriend, Rick. Angus is surprised when he is invited to go along with Melissa to the prom.

Rick and his friends kidnap Troy and want to learn from him what Angus could be embarrassing. Troy tries to escape, while one arm is broken him. Rick receives a video tape on which the awkward dancing Angus can be seen. The tape is played back at school, what makes Melissa angry. It puts an end to Rick and reveals that she suffers from bulimia. Angus and Melissa are finally a couple.

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film is not "surprising" or " original ," but " functioned to a certain degree ." The director trying too hard to please the audience. However Berardinelli praised the representations of children.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times on 15 September 1995 that it had already been given in previous years, numerous films with a similar plot. He praised the portrayal of Charlie Talbert.
