Anna Tomowa-Sintow

Anna Tomowa - Sintow ( born September 22, 1941 in Stara Zagora ) is a Bulgarian opera singer (soprano ). She's chamber singer at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden and the Vienna State Opera.

Career

Anna Tomowa - Sintow studied at the State Conservatory in Sofia at Georgi Slatew - Tscherkin and Katja Spiridonowa. As a final exam she sang Tatyana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. A moment later she was engaged at the Opera Studio in Leipzig. There, she made her debut in the world premiere of Alan Guyana Johnny Bush. Her first major opera debut on stage was with Abigail in Verdi's Nabucco. This was followed by many other leading roles of the Italian and German partition which she worked with the conductor Rolf Reuter and Paul Schmitz ( a former student of Richard Strauss).

Your involvement in the 1972 Ensemble of the Berlin State Opera followed a year later his international breakthrough in Paris with the Verdi Requiem. Since then, Anna Tomowa - Sintow sings with the most important conductors ( such as Karl Böhm, Riccardo Chailly, Herbert von Karajan, Carlos Kleiber, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Wolfgang Sawallisch ) and at all major opera houses (such as the Bavarian State Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, German Opera Berlin, Milan's La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Vienna State Opera ) and festivals (especially at the Salzburg Festival and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino). Especially close she worked 17 years with the conductor Herbert von Karajan. In 2001 she celebrated her 35 th Bühnenjubiliäum with a concert performance of Verdi's Aida at the National Opera Sofia.

Anna Tomowa - Sintow is their experience of stage and concert hall in numerous master classes in various countries to the young generation and is a jury member at international singing competitions.

Born Anna Tomowa is married to Albert Sintow. The couple has a daughter.

Awards

Tomowa - Sintow received gold medals at the international singing competitions in Sofia and in Rio de Janeiro and Grammy Awards for her Ariadne ( in the recording of Ariadne auf Naxos under the baton of James Levine ) and for her Donna Anna ( in the recording of Don Giovanni under conducted by Herbert von Karajan ). In addition, she was awarded the Orphée d'Or for her performance of Four Last Songs, also under the direction of Herbert von Karajan.

In 1974 she was awarded the National Prize of the GDR III. Class for art and literature.
