Anthony Albanese

Anthony Norman Albanese ( born March 2, 1963 in Sydney ) is an Australian politician and Australian Labor Party since March 1996, for the constituency Grayndler ( within Sydney, New South Wales) as a Member of the Australian House of Representatives.

Albanese studied economics at the University of Sydney. Prior to his political career, he worked as a bank clerk. Between 1985 and 1989 he worked for Tom Uren, the then Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services. After that Albanese was until 1995 Vice Secretary of the Party in New South Wales. From 1995 to 1996 he worked as a consultant for Bob Carr, the Prime Minister of the state.

Since 1998 he was a member of the shadow cabinet of the opposition. On 3 December 2007 he was a minister in the first government of Kevin Rudd for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Governments as well as additionally for Parliamentary Affairs. In this function he also belonged to the Cabinets of Julia Gillard, however, was in charge from September 2010 to March 2013 only for transport and infrastructure, and Parliamentary Affairs. On June 26, 2013 Albanese was elected as deputy chairman of the Labor Party and a day later as deputy prime minister under Kevin Rudd (second cabinet ) appointed, while maintaining its previous government functions.
