Kim Beazley

Kim Christian Beazley (born 14 December 1948 in Perth, Western Australia ) is an Australian politician of the Australian Labor Party.

Beazley was 1980-2007 Member of the Australian House of Representatives. He was a minister with Cabinet rank to the governments of the two laboratory - Prime Minister Bob Hawke (1983-1991) and Paul Keating ( 1991-1996 ). Between 1983 and 1996, Beazley Aviation Minister (1983 ), Defense Minister ( 1984-90 ), Minister of Transport ( 1990-91 ), Finance Minister was (1991, 1993-96 ), Minister of Education ( 1991-93 ) and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia ( 1995-96 ).

From 1996 to 2001 and 2005 to 2006, Beazley was also Chairman of the Labor Party and at the same time opposition leader in the Australian House of Commons.

After the vote defeat for the leadership of the ALP against the former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in December 2006, Beazley announced that it would no longer want to run for the upcoming Federal Elections in 2007 and retire from politics. Subsequently, he accepted a professorship in the Department of Politics and International Relations from the University of Western Australia. In July 2008 he was appointed chancellor of the Australian National University, a position he held until December 2009. Beazley was in February of the following year as the successor to Dennis Richardson Australian Ambassador to the United States.

Kim Beazley is married and has two children.
