Antoine Hervé

Antoine Hervé ( born January 20, 1959 in Paris ) is a French composer and pianist.

Hervé studied at the Conservatoire of Paris piano with Pierre Sancan, orchestration with Marius Constant and composition with Jean -Yves Daniel - Lesur, Henri Challan, Jean -Claude Reynaud and Claude Ballif. He was the winner of the national Concours de La Defense. For Radio France, he founded the Orchestra Bob 13 ( Live recordings in Paris, Tutti ). From 1987 to 1989 he was music director of the Orchestre National de Jazz. On worldwide tours with the orchestra he gave more than one hundred forty concerts, including Gil Evans and Quincy Jones. With the orchestra he recorded the CDs ONJ and 87 African Dream. In 1990 he founded the ensemble Hexameron that the promotion of contemporary forms of musical improvisation devoted himself, and the Antoine Hervé Quintet, with whom he the Bulgarian- Turkish singer Yildiz Ibrahimova accompanied (Album Paris - Zagreb).

Hervé played among others with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Cab Calloway, Louis Sclavis, Martial Solal, Michel Portal, Carla Bley, Didier Lockwood and Daniel Humair.

In addition to musicals, film scores and music for dance shows he composed in the 1990s, including a trumpet concerto, a string quartet and a piece for percussion and orchestra. In 1997 he founded with Markus Stockhausen Stockhausen Hervé the quintet.

He is the founder of an own jazz label Philo.

In 1985 he received the Prix Django Reinhardt.
