Antoine I. de Lalaing

Antoine I de Lalang ( probably * 1480, † April 12, 1540 in Ghent ) was from 1518 Comte de Hoogstraten and from 1522 the governor of Holland and Zeeland. He was the younger son of Josse de Lalang and Bonne de la Viefville.

Life

Antoine de Lalang was Seigneur de Montigny et de Leuze. He accompanied Philip the Fair to Spain than this there came to power. Under Charles V, he was Burgundian Council and treasurer, as well as Dutch chief of finances.

He married on April 11, 1509 Elizabeth of Culemburg (* 1475, † December 9, 1555 ), since 1504 Mistress of Cuylenburg, Hoogstraten, Borsselen and Zuylen, daughter of Jasper of Cuylenburg and Joan of Burgundy and widow of Jean de Luxembourg, Seigneur de Ville († 1508). The marriage remained childless. Elizabeth was buried in Hoogstraten.
