Antônio Afonso de Miranda

Antônio Afonso de Miranda SDN ( born April 14, 1920 in Cipotânea ) is Emeritus Bishop of Bragança do Pará.

Life

Antônio Afonso de Miranda joined the Congregation of the Missionaries at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, and received on 1 November 1945, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on November 3, 1971 for the Bishop of Lorena. The Apostolic Nuncio to Brazil, Umberto Mozzoni, donated to him on 27 December of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Joaquim Belchior da Silva Neto CM, Bishop of Luz, and Cristiano Portela de Araújo Pena, Bishop of Divinópolis. To support Othon Mottas he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Campanha 1977 on July 11. John Paul II appointed him on August 6, 1981 for the Bishop of Taubaté.

On 22 May 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
