António Guterres

António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres? / I ( born April 30, 1949 in Santos -o -Velho, Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese politician.

Guterres graduated from the Technical University of Lisbon with a degree in electrical engineering and was in the period 1992-2002 General Secretary of the Portuguese Socialists ( Partido Socialista ) and a member of the Portuguese Parliament. From 1995 to 2002 he was Prime Minister of the 13th and 14th government. From November 1999 to June 2005 Guterres was president of the Socialist International. Since June 2005 he is the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Guterres is widowed and has two children.
