Antonio Pinto (composer)

Antonio Pinto ( * in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as Antônio Alves Pinto) is a Brazilian film composer.

Life and work

Antonio Pinto comes from a renowned Brazilian artist family. He is the son of the famous comic artist Ziraldo Alves Pinto, the brother of film director Fabrizia Alves Pinto, the brother of the theater director Daniela Thomas and the cousin of film actor Fernando Alves Pinto.

His debut as a composer Antonio Pinto was in 1994 with the film The little pest. Until well into the 2000s into it he was only involved in Brazilian productions, which have occasionally been produced with the help of other countries. The films Collateral and Lord of War - Merchants of Death, both originated in 2005, represent his Hollywood debut

Internationally renowned directors with whom Pinto has worked so far, Mike Newell, James Foley, Brad Silberling, Andrew Niccol, Emir Kusturica, Fernando Meirelles and Walter Salles.

In 2002, Pinto was honored for his work on Cidade de Deus to the World Soundtrack Award. In 2005 he received along with James Newton Howard an ASCAP Award for their involvement in Collateral.
