António Zambujo

António Zambujo (* 1975 in Beja ) is a Portuguese fado singer.

Biography

He grew up with the "Canto Alentejo ", a style of music later heavily influenced him. At the age of eight he began studying clarinet at the Baixo Alentejo Regional Music Conservatory. Despite his young age, he then fell in love with the fado. His references were Amália Rodrigues, Maria Teresa de Noronha, Alfredo Marceneiro, João Ferreira Rosa, and others. He began to sing, accompanied by his family and friends and at the age of 16, he won a local fado competition. After completing his clarinet studies he moved to Lisbon.

Mário Pacheco, the renowned Portuguese guitarist and composer, received him into his occupation, he joined the prestigious " Clube de Fado" in the Alfama district of Lisbon on. In the musical " Amália " by Filipe La Feria, he played the role of Francisco Cruz ( Amália 's first husband ). The show ran for four years in Lisbon and then he went on tour through the country. This role Zambujo became the favorite of the audience.

In 2002 he produced his first CD, ' O mesmo fado ', characterized by the musical influences of the Alentejo. Zambujo even composed some of fado and sang others by famous poets in the world of Fado, as José Luís Gordo and Mário Rainho were written. In the same year the great success came with the song " O mesmo fado ". He won the award of "Best New Fado Portugal voting " of Radio Nova FM, the had been singers like Mariza, Mafalda Camané or Arnauth obtained.

2004 began his international career with concerts in Toronto, Paris, Santander, Sarajevo, Zagreb. He released his second album ' Por meu cante ', where he also leaned on his Alentejo roots. He sang among other songs from his homeland and they rested on the Fado. In this work, he was accompanied by musicians such as Paulo Parreira ( Portuguese guitar ) and Ricardo Cruz ( bass).

In 2006 he received the Amália Rodrigues Price ( awarded by the Amália Rodrigues Foundation) in the category " best male fado singers ." In September 2007, launched his third album ' Outro Sentido '. The album was recorded with special participation of - produced " The Bulgarian Voices Angelite ". In ' Outro Sentido ' sings António Zambujo again Fado in his own way and thus opened up new avenues for his own music. He sings fado in its own way. The albums ' Guia ' in 2010 and ' Quinto ' in 2012 in which he still continued to develop his style. In addition to his own Fadostil António Zambujo also interpreted songs of the Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso and songwriter, whom he adored.
