AquaDom

The AquaDom in Berlin is the largest cylindrical saltwater aquarium in the world and is in the DomAquarée in Berlin -Mitte.

It consists of an acrylic glass container of 16 feet height and 11.5 meters in diameter. Overall, the structure is 25 meters high. In the middle of the cylinder Visitors can drive through the interior of the aquarium in an elevator. In the aquarium approximately 1,200 fish from around 95 species in a million liters of salt water. At the same time, the AquaDom output for the Sea Life Berlin.

The AquaDom was opened after several years of construction on 2 December 2003. General contractor was a collaboration between the company ICM and Müller- Altvatter. E. Sander provided the plant technology, Reynolds Polymer acrylic glass and the company Hydro Sight parts of the project monitoring and subsequent to the construction maintenance. The costs amounted to 12.8 million euros.

The AquaDom is - as the total DomAquarée - owned by Union Investment Real Estate.

Particularity

The AquaDom is set in a courtyard acting as a lobby of the Radisson Blu Berlin, a 5 -star hotel of the Rezidor Hotel Group. The hotel courtyard rooms have a direct view of the outside of the AquaDom.
