Arapiraca, officially Municipio de Arapiraca is a city in the Brazilian state of Alagoas. The population was according to the census of 2010 214.006 residents who Arapiraquenser be called. History

The area was settled in the first half of the 19th century. On October 30, 1924 Arapiraca became a town, before she was a district. Since the 1970s, large tobacco plantations are cultivated in the region.
