Archduke Ferdinand Karl Viktor of Austria-Este

Ferdinand Karl Victor of Austria -Este ( born July 20, 1821 in Modena, † December 15, 1849 in Brno ) was an Archduke of Austria -Este and Prince of Modena.

Life

Ferdinand was the second son of Duke Francis IV of Modena (1779-1846) from his marriage to Maria Beatrix (1792-1840), daughter of King Victor Emmanuel I of Sardinia. Ferdinand was sent as a special envoy to the royal Prussian court in Berlin, where he shared the throne of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph. In military service, Ferdinand took part in the campaigns in Italy and Hungary and eventually became Major General, Lieutenant-General and owner of the Imperial infantry regiment number 26 He was a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Prussian Black and Red Eagle, of the Saxon House Order of the diamond crown and the Grand Duchy of Hessian Ludwig Order.

After it, led to more deaths in hospitals in Brno, where Ferdinand was stationed, the Archduke inspected the hospitals and stuck there with typhus, which he cultivated by his sister Maria Theresa, died age of 28 within five days. He was buried in the church of San Vincenzo in Modena.

Marriage and issue

Ferdinand married on 4 October 1847 at the Schönbrunn Castle Elisabeth ( 1831-1903 ), daughter of Archduke Joseph Anton Johann of Austria, with whom he had one daughter:
