Årjäng Municipality

Årjäng is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Värmland County. The larger, western part of the municipality is located in the historic province of Värmland whereas the smaller eastern part lies in the historical province of Dalsland. The main town of the municipality is Årjäng.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the border with Norway. The landscape is characterized by many small and large lakes. The largest lakes are:

  • Easts
  • Övre Gla

Also the Dalslandkanal performs some of these lakes.

Traffic

By municipality Årjäng the European route E18 from Stockholm to Oslo, and the road leads 172 ( Bengtsfors - Årjäng - Arvika ). From Årjäng after Bengtsfors earlier led a railway line, which is now closed and is used as a trolley route.
