Arkadiusz Gołaś

Arkadiusz Gołaś (born 10 May 1981 in Przasnysz, † September 16, 2005 at Griffen, Carinthia ) was a Polish volleyball player.

Life

Gołaś debuted in 2001 in the Polish national team. With it he achieved at the 2002 World Cup in Buenos Aires the ninth. Two years later he won the Olympic volleyball tournament with the team in fifth place. In September 2005 he reached at the European Championships in Rome with the team the quarterfinals. Gołaś was most recently as the middle blocker Lube Banca Macerata Italian giants under contract.

On the morning of September 16, 2005 Gołaś accident on the way to Italy fatal. His wife ( married on 21 July 2005 in Częstochowa ) lost to the Austrian Southern Motorway (A2 ) the control of their vehicle and flung into a noise barrier. Gołaś suffered fatal head injuries in the accident.
