Armando Iannucci

Armando Iannucci Giovanni OBE ( born November 28, 1963 in Glasgow ) is a British comedian, director and producer. He was known primarily for several TV productions with the fictional Moderator Alan Partridge and as the inventor of the political satire The Thick Of it.

Life

Iannucci is the son of an Italian father and a Scottish mother. He grew up in Glasgow, where he went to school, and then studied English literature at the universities of Glasgow and Oxford.

In the nineties, he began with the production of comedy shows for the radio stations of the BBC. He landed his first major success with the parody news program On The Hour, which was adapted as The Day Today for television by the BBC. Here he has worked with some actors and writers who were counted in the sequence to the New Wave of British comedy and also work in later years repeatedly with Iannucci, such as Chris Morris, Steve Coogan or Stewart Lee.
