Armando Trovajoli

Armando Trovajoli (also called " Trovaioli "; born September 2, 1917 in Rome, † in February 2013 ) was an Italian pianist and film composer. For over 200 films, he worked as a composer and / or music director, including many jazz orchestrations for films of the Commedia all'italiana. He collaborated with Vittorio De Sica on a number of projects together, including his part of Boccaccio '70. He is also the author of several well-known Italian musicals of the last fifty years as Rugantino and Aggiungi un posto a tavola. Trovajoli was the husband of actress Pier Angeli.

Life

As a child already showed his musical talent. There followed a Piano and composition studies at the Music Conservatory in St. Cecilia in Rome,. In 1937 he was hired for the orchestra Rocco Grasso as a pianist. In 1939 he played with the orchestra Sesto Carlini, a leading Italian formations of jazz music. After the war he perfected his game and made at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, one of Italy's most prestigious music academies in Rome in 1948 his degree.

In 1949 he was chosen to represent Italy at the Festival du Jazz de Paris. Here he played with Gorni Kramer ( bass) and Gilberto Cuppini (drums). In 1962 he married actress Pier Angeli. With this he has a son, Andrea Howard. The marriage ended in divorce in 1968. He married his second wife Mariapaola, the mother of his second son George.

In 1962 he composed the music for the musical comedy " Rugantino " of Garinei e Giovannini. He also had success with Ciao Rudy and Aggiungi un posto a tavola. The often-heard song Rugantino, Roma, now fa ' la stupida stasera has also been observed worldwide. In his soundtracks he worked often together with the directors Vittorio De Sica, Marco Vicario, Dino Risi, Luigi Magni and Ettore Scola.
