Arne Ã…hman

Per Arne Åhman ( born February 4, 1925 in Nordingrå ) is a former Swedish athlete. At a height of 1.76 m his competition weight was 64 kg.

Arne Åhman was at the European Championships in 1946 with 14.96 meters third in the triple jump. He had 21 centimeters behind the winner Valdemar Rautio from Finland.

In the 1948 Olympics he could with 1.84 meters not qualify for the finals in the high jump. In the triple jump, he jumped in first attempt new Swedish record of 15.40 meters, the jump was enough for the gold medal. The American George Avery could reach Åhmans width with 15.365 meters not quite and won silver.

At the European Championships in 1950 Arne Åhman finished third in the triple jump with 14.48 meters and 5 centimeters behind bronze 5th place in the high jump, he was 1.93 meters behind the Briton Alan Paterson second.

In his second 1952 Olympics Åhman occurred only in the triple jump. After he had jumped 14.72 meters in qualifying, he was in the final with 14.05 meters disappointing for him only Fifteenth.
