Artemisa

Artemisa is a municipality and a city in Cuba and capital of the province of Artemisa. By 2010, the municipality was part of the defunct province of La Habana. In the municipality of 82 873 inhabitants, of which 23,743 in rural areas, which corresponds to a degree of urbanization of 71.4 percent.

Structure

Artemisa is divided into 11 Districts: Cañas, Capellanias, Cayajabos, Dolores Uno, Dos Dolores, Guanímar, Mojanga, Pijirigua, Puerta de la Güira, Rural, Urbano and Virtudes.

Artemisa belonged until 1976 to the province of Pinar del Río. Since January 1, 2011 Artemisa is capital of the newly formed province of Artemisa.
