Bauta is a city and a municipality in the Cuban province of Artemisa. By 2010, the municipality belonged to the defunct province of La Habana.

The city is located southwest of Havana and northeast of Alquizar. The settlement was officially founded in 1879.

The municipality counts 45,509 inhabitants in an area of 157 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 289.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The area is dominated by agriculture, are grown sugar cane, pineapples and tobacco.

The municipality is divided into eight neighborhoods ( Barrio ): Anafe, Baracoa, Bauta, Cangrejeras, Félix E. Alpízar, General Antonio Maceo, Guatao and Punta Brava.
