Arvidsjaur Municipality

Arvidsjaur is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the north of Sweden in the administrative province of Norrbotten County, 110 km south of the Arctic Circle in the historic province of Lapland.

Most inhabitants live in the capital of Arvidsjaur, the rest in the places part of the community. Through the community, the European Route 45 ( Inlandsvägen ) and the Reichsstraßem lead 94 and 95 ( Silvervägen ). In Arvidsjaur station the Inland Railway and the Tvärbanan meet.

In the church today are still around 20 families of seed according to the traditional way of life.

History

Arvidsjaur was only permanently settled in 1757 by Swedish settlers.

In the community Arvidsjaur there are about 4,000 lakes and nature offers 15,000 reindeer a home. There are also big game brown bears and moose.
