Atlantic Airlines (United Kingdom)

Atlantic Airlines Limited is a British cargo airline based in Coventry. It is a subsidiary of Logistics Group Western Atlantic.

History

Atlantic Airlines was founded in 1994. It was founded as part of the Air Atlantique Group in order to specialize in freight transport. Since July 2001, Atlantic Airlines operates independently within the group and is expanding its product offering. Atlantic Airlines operates all maintenance on their aircraft itself.

The Atlantic Airlines Limited was established in March 2001, when the management buy-in led by the trading company. On 28 May 2004 a complete management buy-out was completed in which the management bought all the aircraft, spare parts, engines, etc..

The core business of the Company is the provision and operation of aircraft on lines of trucking companies in the night market and the implementation of charter flights for freight broker. Atlantic Airlines has to provide a contract with the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency aircraft to contain oil spills.

The company specialized in the transport of dangerous goods and radioactive materials and special works. The Atlantic Airlines had an operating license type A of the Civil Aviation Authority, which allowed for transporting cargo and mail on a plane. She was also a partner in the Atlantic Flight Training, which was part of the Atlantic Group.

A Tupolev Tu -204 was temporarily leased from Cairo Aviation and flew on behalf of TNT.

In October 2008 it was announced that the Air Atlantique Group together concludes with the Swedish- Luxembourg Air Cargo Group West Air Europe under the name of West Atlantic. Thus, the Atlantic Airlines came into the possession of the new group.

On 27 April 2013, the last cargo flight was made with a Lockheed L -188 Electra. The aircraft with the aircraft registration G - LOCF ( hull number 1100) was last used for freight operations of DHL Aviation in Europe. It was sold to Buffalo Airways and has been used for the one with the new aircraft registration C - GXFC to travel within Canada cargo flights.

Destinations

Atlantic Airlines transported air cargo on scheduled and charter flights worldwide, but particularly in Europe and across the Atlantic. The airport is home to Coventry Airport, a hub is operated at Liège Airport. Number of scheduled destinations include Coventry, Cardiff, Liverpool, Jersey, Guernsey, Bournemouth, Belfast, East Midlands, Leipzig, Luxembourg.
