Atlantic Beach is a town in Duval County in the U.S. state of Florida with 12,655 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Atlantic Beach is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by the cities of Jacksonville and Neptune Beach.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,655 inhabitants distributed to 6,174 households. The population density was 1304.6 inh. / Km ². 82.5 % of the population were white, 10.8% African American, 0.5% Native American and 1.9 % Asian Americans. 1.5% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.8% in different ethnic groups. 5.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 29.2 % of all households lived in 25.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 60.8 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.29 persons and the average family size is 2.82 people.

21.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.4% were 20-39 years old, 30.3% were 40-59 years old and 24.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was x years. x % of the population were male and x % female.

The average annual income was $ 65,441, while 10.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

Atlantic Beach is traversed or affected by the Florida State Roads A1A and 10. The nearest airports are Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport (10 km west ) and the Jacksonville International Airport ( 40 km northwest ).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 299 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were five rapes, 18 robberies, 49 injuries, 98 burglaries, 298 thefts and 20 thefts.
