Atlético Mexiquense

Atlético Mexiquense is a former Mexican football club based in the city of Toluca in the State of México. He was playing in the second league farm team of Deportivo Toluca FC and wore its home games at times also in Ixtapan de la Sal.

History

The club was formed when the management of Deportivo Toluca FC before the 1997/98 season earned the second division license from Atlético Hidalgo and called a farm team at the above name to life.

The newly formed team ended its first half season ( Invierno 1997) with the balance of 15 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats and a goal difference of 46:22 as Superlíder, as a point best team in the round, but failed in the semifinals of Liguilla with 1:4 and 1:1 in the late Master and Movers Pachuca.

In the years 1998 and 1999, Atlético Mexiquense missed qualifying for the Liguillas that one again reached for the first time in the Torneo Verano 2000, when they lost in the quarter-finals with 2:5 and 1:4 against the later promoted Irapuato.

Between 2001 and 2004, Atlético Mexiquense still reached a total of five times in the final tournament and entered into the Apertura 2004 on the Correcaminos (0:0, 2:1) and Querétaro (1:0, 4:3 ) to the finals before, where the later Movers San Luis FC just 1-0 and 1:3 nV ( the winning goal did not come until the 119th minute! ) subject.

From then on, the team played almost regularly in the lower regions of the table and just could not even qualify for the Liguilla than one 2007, only with 0:0 and 1:1 failed to Correcaminos in the quarterfinals of the Apertura due to the points in the league less achieved.

With transformation of the old La Liga 'A' at end of season 2008/ 09 to the new Liga de Ascenso, which began operating in the Game 2009/10 season, the team was withdrawn from the second Mexican professional league and dissolved.
