Auguetbrücke

The Auguetbrücke is a covered wooden bridge over the Aare River between the villages of Muri bei Bern Belp and in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland.

In the 18th century and in the 19th century passed between Thun and Bern four Aareübergänge in the form of ferries. Due to the increasing freight traffic in the early 19th century, the farms no longer met the demands placed on them. Therefore, the idea matured to build a bridge in the Hunzigenau. In the spring of 1835 began with the construction and in the summer of 1836 the building was completed.

During construction of the national road N6 by the Aare valley formed during the Hunzigenbrücke the connection to the existing main road that connects the offices Konolfingen and Seftigen. One such task, which is undoubtedly the transport frequency of Aareüberganges had to increase, the old wooden bridge could no longer cope. To this end, we created above the old bridge a concrete bridge. Thus, after 136 years, the wooden bridge was unnecessary.

After much discussion, we moved the old wooden bridge into Auguet. In 1974, the now Auguetbrücke called bridge at the new location will be opened to the public again.
