August Lanner

August Lanner ( born January 23, 1835 in Vienna, † September 27, 1855 ) was an Austrian composer, the son of composer Joseph Lanner.

He attended St. Ann's school without obtaining a special musical education here. His earliest music lessons in harmony were to him by his uncle, the Kk Hofopernkapellmeister Josef Strebinger granted. Later he received instruction in theory of composition by the Viennese composer Josef Hellmesberger senior and Professor Josef Mayseder. Among his first compositional efforts is not preserved waltz.

After the premature death of his father in 1843 conducted August his father's orchestra at the age of only eight years in the " Bräuhausgarten in five home " about 2,000 visitors. He made ​​his debut in 1853, but lived only two years old when he died twenty year of a lung disease. In his short career, August Lanner composed about 30 dance pieces.
