The Herzogenaurach between Neuses (Erlangen ) and low- village ( Herzogenaurach )
The Herzogenaurach is a 35 km long left tributary of the Regnitz in Middle Franconia. To distinguish it from other rivers named Herzogenaurach, especially the Herzogenaurach ( Regnitz, Upper Franconia ) and Herzogenaurach ( Rednitz ), it is also called Mean Herzogenaurach. The name of Herzogenaurach means " brook, grazing on the aurochs " ( OHG ūr = aurochs and aha = running water).
Course
It rises to the west of Franconia by Klaus Herzogenaurach (municipality Erlbach ) flows, among other things by the municipality Aurachtal, the city of Herzogenaurach, Erlangen's district Frauenaurach. After crossing under the Main- Danube Canal, it opens at Erlangen- Bruck in the Regnitz.
Recreation
From Herzogenaurach to Erlangen runs a continuous cycle path through the Aurachtal.
