Ausserbinn

Ausserbinn is a village in the municipality of appointment in the district of Goms in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Geography

Ausserbinn lies in the region of Goms in the Binn Valley and has a mild, almost Mediterranean and dry climate and the location on a sunny slope. Ausserbinn church belongs to the parish appointment.

History

The Grand Council of the Canton of Valais decided on 16 September 2004, the merger of the municipalities Ausserbinn, appointment, mill creek and stone house on 1 October 2004. Due to the negative voting results of 2002, the municipality Ausserbinn decided to exploit the legal means against this forced merger. The residents wanted to retain political independence in the future, as their website and the various polls in recent years show. The appeal to the Federal Court was not granted suspensive effect. Therefore, the fusion community was quite effective, although the final judgment of the court until the spring of 2005 was still outstanding. After the complaint was dismissed Ausserbinn the community, the merger is now legally binding, thus Ausserbinn part of the new municipality appointment.

Attractions

The Theodulskapelle was newly built in or after the mid-18th century. The Rosary Altar about 1678 is by an unknown artist.
