Blitzingen ( Valais German: Blitzige ) is a municipality in the district of Goms in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

For today's community next Blitzingen include even the to 1848 independent village communities Bodme, Wiler, buntings, and Gadmen.

History

For the first time Blitzingen is mentioned in a document in the year 1347th

Tourism

Blitzingen is the starting point of since 1973 held annually Gommerlaufs, with around 1,800 participants one of the largest cross-country ski events in Switzerland. It takes place on the last weekend of February. Blitzingen is located on the Goms cross-country, with about 100 km of the largest cross-country ski areas in Switzerland.
