Avdimi of Haifa

Rab Dimi from Haifa (short for Abudimi = Eudemos or Abudemmos ) was an amora of the third (after the other: the fourth ) generation in Palestine. He lived and worked at the end of 3./Anfang of the 4th century AD.

He was a Fellow of the Rabbis Isaac Nappaha, Ammi and Abbahu and tradent the Resch Lakish, of which he must have learned a lot.

Dimi emigrated to Babylonia (hence the Babylonienfahrer called ) and contributed in Pumbedita, especially against Abaye, Palestinian tenets and traditions before.

To Dimi many students included bar Nachmani among others Barachiah and Samuel.

Dimi is buried according to tradition in Haifa next to Isaac Nappaha.
