Avon is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. In the 2000 census, the city had 11,446 inhabitants.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 54.1 km ², of which 54.0 km ² of land and 0.1 km ² omitted ( = 0.10 %) to water.

History
In the seventh Township the 16th row in the Western Reserve pursued in 1814, the first permanent residents, led from the Montgomery County in New York, coming from Wilbur Cahoon. The township was managed by the Dover Township from and belonged to Cuyahoga County. 1818 was founded in the area and first and later called Xeuma Troy. In 1824, the Lorain County founded and the name of Troy in Avon changed. 1825 was the site of a post office. Finally, the whole township was order to set a City.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, there were 11,446 people Avon. The population density was 211.8 people per km ². There were 4291 housing units at an average 79.4 per km ². The population consisted of Avon's 97.02 % White, 0.72 % African American, 0.17 % Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.24 % reported from other races, and 3.18 % from two or more races. 1.28 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Avon distributed to 4088 households out of which 37.9 % were living in children under 18 years. 67.7 % married couples living together, 6.4 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1 % were non-families. 19.7% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 6.8 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size is 3.15 people.
The city population was spread out with 27.6 % under the, 4.7 % 18 -24- year-old, 31.5 % 25 -44- year-old, 23.8 % 45-64 year olds and 12.4 % under the age of 65 years or more. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women, 92.6 men.
