Baboo (originally Flybaboo, before Baboo Airways ) was a Swiss regional airline based in Le Grand- Saconnex.

History

After Swiss International Air Lines in the summer of 2003, for reasons of profitability announced the cancellation of most flights from Lugano, various plans of new airlines have been known to operate at least some of these routes from autumn 2003. The Baboo Airways from Geneva, which operated initially three times a day with one operated by Cirrus Airlines Dash-8 Q -314 Geneva -Lugano, was the first at the start.

In April 2004 the first own machine was also accepted a Dash 8-315, as HB- JEJ in Switzerland. Especially with the second Dash -8 that came to use from the fall of 2004, the expansion of the route network has been driven ( inter alia from Geneva to Venice, St. Tropez or Prague). On the route Geneva -Lugano to work from the fall of 2005 with Darwin Airline together ( under their direction).

The three leased Embraer 190 were taken in the fall of 2010 from the traffic, according to CEO Mark Darby two of the three aircraft will be retired and one for the time being is to come on selected routes used.

In November 2010 Flybaboo SA and Darwin Airline SA announced that Darwin Airline will take over the routes served by Baboo objectives as well as a part of business activities. The acquisition should be completed in the first quarter of 2011 after approval by the competent authorities, which has since been implemented.

Destinations

Baboo operated primarily from Geneva targets in neighboring European countries, including Biarritz, Rome and Valencia. In addition, she worked with several code -share partners, including Alitalia, Air France and Olympic Air, a further agreement was with TAROM since October 2009.

Fleet

As of January 2010, the fleet consisted of three aircraft Baboo:

  • 2 Bombardier Dash 8Q -400 ( HB- JQA identifiers and HB JQB )
  • 1 Embraer 190 ( identifier HB- JQG )

As of October 2011, no aircraft are registered in more Baboo, the Bombardier Dash 8Q -400 were taken from Darwin.
