Băcia

Bacia [ bɘcia ] ( German shepherd village, Hungarian Bácsi or Alsóbácsi ) is a municipality in the district of Hunedoara in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

The community bacia located in the center of the circle Hunedoara, in a left tributary of the Mureş ( Maros ) on the river Strei ( Strell ). On the railway line Simeria - Petrosani, European Route 79 and County Road (drum Judetean ) located DJ 668D, the place of small town Călan located about 5 kilometers north ( Klandorf ); the district capital Deva ( Deva ), approximately 18 kilometers northwest of bacia away.

History

The Hungarian medieval settlement was first mentioned in documents in 1332. In the 17th - 18th century lived in the present location bacia kleinadlige reformed Hungary; Romanian farmers settled in this period also. However, the history of settlement in the region ranges - according to reports by G. Téglás - to the Roman times. On the territory of the municipality mentioned area remains of a Roman watchtower were found on one of the locals Palatişte (Hungarian Palotas ).

After the Romanian Revolution of 1848, the town was assigned to the historic district chair Déva in the county Hunyad. At the time of Greater Romania, was the place part of the Judet Hunedoara. The church in its present form - with several incorporated villages - has existed since 1968.

The main occupation of the population is agriculture and animal husbandry.

Population

In the 1850 census, lived on the territory of the present municipality of 1,626 people. 1,350 of these were Romanians, 194 Hungarians and 82 Roma. The highest population ( 2,234 ) was achieved in 1930. The highest number of Romanians ( 2,067 ) in 1977, that of Hungary (472 ), German (38 ) 1910 and determines the Roma in 1850. In addition, in 1977 and 1992 per capita than a Serb and 1930, two Slovaks as designated. 2002 in the municipality bacia 1,797 people registered, of which 1,662 Romanians, 114 Hungarians, nine German and twelve others ( eleven of them Roma).
