Badia del Vallès

Badia del Vallès is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona, in northeastern Spain. It is located in the comarca of Vallès Occidental and belongs to the metropolitan area of ​​Barcelona.

Geography

Badia del Vallès is a suburb of the Catalan capital of Barcelona, and is separated from the Serra de Collserola, about 20 kilometers northwest of the center and from the Mediterranean Sea. The municipality is bordered to the west by the county city of Sabadell, in the south, separated by the river Sec, to the city of Bellaterra, and in the north and east by Barberà del Vallès. With its neighboring communities, and beyond, it forms a closed structural unit.

History

In the 60s of the 20th century, the Spanish government decided under the dictator Francisco Franco to relieve the two cities Barberà del Vallès and Bellaterra, which in turn grew up in the previous decades to dormitory towns in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, ​​the construction of a large housing estate with over 5,300 apartments.

In 1975, the last new buildings, mostly residential block with 5 to 16 storeys, surrounded by park-like plants and crossed by wide avenues, by the present King of Spain, Juan Carlos I. were inaugurated. On April 14th 1994 Badia del Vallès obtained by elimination of the communities Barberà del Vallès and Bellaterra its independence, and today, with an area of ​​only 0.93 square kilometers, one of the smallest municipalities in terms of area, at the same time pro with a population density of 14,549 inhabitants square kilometers, one of the most densely besiedeltsten communities of Catalonia and Spain.

Culture and sights

Traffic
