Bahri Tanrıkulu

Bahri Tanrikulu ( born March 16, 1980 in Muğla ) is a Turkish Taekwondo, which is active in the medium and heavy weight. He is the first Turkish World and European champion in Taekwondo. So far, he participated in two Olympic Games and won a silver medal.

Tanrikulu played his first international title fights at the European Championships 1998 in Eindhoven, where he still competed in the lightweight class to 67 kg. He won a bronze medal at first. In the following year he was successful in his first World Cup in Edmonton with silver in the category up to 78 kg. His first international title eventually won Tanrikulu at the 2000 European Championships in Patras and the 2001 World Championships in Jeju -si. It was the first World Cup and European Championship titles, who won a türklischer Taekwondoin. Also in the following years Tanrikulu was able to celebrate successes and to date a total of five World Cup win and seven European medals, including three world and two European titles.

At his first Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 traveled Tanrikulu as one of the favorites. He fought his way to the finals, but lost it against Steven Lopez and won the silver medal. His second Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, however, were disappointing. He met again equal in the opening bout on Lopez and retired. By winning the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in January 2012 in Kazan Tanrikulu was able to qualify for his third Olympic Games 2012 in London. There he was defeated in the battle for the bronze medal Liu Xiaobo with 2:3 points.

Tanrikulu is married to Tina Morgan, also a successful Taekwondo and two -time Olympian for Australia. Also Tanrıkulus sister Azize was in Taekwondo active she achieved a silver medal in the featherweight at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
