Ballygrant

Bally Grant ( Gaelic: Baile a ' Ghràna ) is a village in the northeast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay. They thus administratively belongs to the unitary authority Argyll and Bute. Bally Grant is on the A846, the main road of the island, which connects the two harbors of Port Askaig and Port Ellen each other. A few hundred meters to the east is Loch Bally Grant and about 1.5 km north begin the shores of Loch Finlaggan historically significant.

Bally Grant was in the past the site of a nationally significant whiskey distillery called Lossit (partly as Bally Grant known). It was founded in 1821, but already in 1860 closed again. The warehouses were then used for some years by the nearby distillery Caol Ila.
