Baltimora
Baltimora was an Italo - disco act whose face the singer and dancer Jimmy McShane (* May 23, 1957 in Londonderry, † March 29, 1995 ibid ) was. The song came from Maurizio Bassi, a producer from Milan, Italy, who also wrote the songs, but otherwise remained in the background. The biggest hit of Baltimora Tarzan Boy was in 1985.
Biography
Jimmy McShane settled in London to train as a dancer and thereby got some small involvement in theater and television. Then he moved to Italy, came on there and so came as a background singer in the band of Dee Dee Jackson, who with Automatic Lover 1978 had a European hit.
The first single was Baltimora Tarzan Boy. The title conquered in 1985 in the wake of Italo - disco wave the European charts and even became a top 20 success in the U.S., which was very unusual for an Italo Disco Act. As the song 1993 in the film Turtles III ( original title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III) use found, succeeded once again made it into the Billboard Hot 100, this time at position 51
The second single Woody Boogie placed in 1986 in the top 20 in Germany and Switzerland. Following the success of Tarzan Boy Baltimora was not able.
McShane was gay. "Tarzan Boy" was therefore often used as a symbol for the homosexual movement. He died in 1995 of complications from AIDS. Maurizio Bassi continued to work as a producer, arranger and studio musician, including for Eros Ramazzotti, Ricchi e Poveri and Matia Bazar.
