Matia Bazar

Matia Bazar is a successful Italian pop music group from Genoa, whose music covers the spectrum between hits, Italopop and Synthpop.

The group was formed in 1975 in Genoa. The founding members were Piero Cassano, Aldo Stellita and Carlo Marrale (all three former members of the band Jet), Giancarlo Golzi and Antonella Ruggiero (vocals ). Matia was the artist name used to Ruggiero in 1974 started her music career.

The debut single, the group was called Stasera che sera. In 1978 she won the Sanremo Festival with the title ... E dirsi ciao. In 1979 they represented Italy at the Euro Vision Song Contest with Raggio di luna. This was followed by international success as solo tu and Tu semplicità.
