Albano Carrisi

Albano Carrisi ( born May 20, 1943 in Cellino San Marco, Brindisi ) is an Italian singer and winemakers. His stage name is Al Bano. He is best known for his appearances in a duo with his former wife Romina Power.

The beginnings

Carrisi was born into a peasant family in southern Italy. He broke with 17 years of schooling and decided to go to Milan, where he initially only found work as a laborer, then as a waiter and as a metal worker later. While he worked in a restaurant, which was attended by personalities from the show business much, he got the chance to join the Clan Celentano thanks to a demo tape. He took his first record, La Strada on a cover of Gene Pitney in 1965, and began as a singer in the framework program of performances by Adriano Celentano to set the scene without, however, abandoning his work.

In the fall of 1965 he took part in the pre- event for the Sanremo Festival. There he made ​​himself, although he did not win, noticeable: He was taken from Voce del Padrone under contract, which made him appear in 1966 in a duet with Pino Donaggio at the Festival delle Rose with the song Quando il sole gli occhi CHIUDE, written by Donaggio. He made his debut on television in Settevoci, a vaudeville and music show, presented by Pippo Baudo and carried out, where he managed to win four consecutive weeks, the applause vote. The determination of the winner was made by a device that measured the strength of the applause of the audience in the hall.

In one of the programs broadcast he turned Io di notte ago, one of his compositions, enriched with a touch of blues, which aroused the interest of the Italian pop singer Milva. From this they later made their own version.

The first successes

In 1967 he achieved his first major success: the song Nel sole, a finalist in the seminar organized by the state-owned media corporation RAI competition summer hit of the year, reached the first position in the sales charts of the records at 45 rpm. His voice, equipped with an enormous sound width, brought him into the limelight and earned him wide acclaim from the public and press, who already spoke of a second Claudio Villa.

Nel sole was also the title of a film in which Al Bano occurs as the main character, as a young colleague: Romina Power. Between the two, a love affair that in spite of the opposition of both families should lead to a wedding later developed.

It appeared the singles L' oro del mondo Il ragazzo che and sorride, the latter with lyrics by Mikis Theodorakis, who was inspired by the tragic events of the inauguration of the Colonnelli regime in Greece around 1967. In 1968 he participated for the first time during the actual San Remo Festival with La siepe part that receives the Special Jury Prize. In 1969 he won the summer hit -Competition with the song Pensando a te. A further six films were shown in cinemas until 1970.

The flowering period of 1970-1991

On 26 July 1970 he married Romina Power, daughter of the famous actor Tyrone Power. The marriage produced four children: Cristel, born in 1985, Romina Jr., born in 1987, Yari, born in 1973, the eldest daughter Ylenia Carrisi was born in 1970, officially as missing since 1994. With Al Bano Romina had already begun to share his music career. In 1969 he took up with her cori di Acqua di mare 1970 Storia di due innamorati.

In 1975, she published Dialogo (I) and 1976 she participated with We'll live it all again at the Grand Prix Euro Vision Song Contest. Two years later, in 1991, the duo performed at the festival with Oggi Sposi on. 1996 versa Al Bano with the song È la mia vita to his career as a solo artist back. Private life

In 1999 he had divorced his wife Romina. With his new partner, the television presenter Loredana Lecciso, with whom he lived from 2001 until November 2005, he has two children. He describes himself as a practicing Catholic.

The relationship with the media "phenomenon" Lecciso brought him a lot lately on TV and in the gossip columns - and often against his will. It went so far that it reflected a rapporteur of the consignment La vita in diretta with a punch.

The company is already running as a well-known pizzeria and as a country hotel.

In recent years, he is often at his vineyard, and he joined the project of Massimo Ferrarese at, President of the Confederation of Industry in Brindisi, who wants to carry the basketball team Brindisi back up through sponsorship. The winery of Al Bano advertises on the jerseys of the second division since 2005.

Al Bano today

In November 2006, the Italian publisher Mondadori brought an autobiography entitled È la mia vita (German It's my life ) out which wrote Al Bano together with Roberto Allegri. Strange is the decision not to tell it from his concubines Romina and Loredana. For them he has reserved two blank pages in the book.

In 2007 he again took part in the Sanremo Festival. With the song Nel perdono how many other songs by Renato Zero wrote that he placed himself in second place behind Simone Cristicchi.

Albano Carrisi took in 2009 and 2011 also at the Sanremo Festival in part with the songs, L' amore è semper amore è libera and Amanda. When Sanremo Festival 2009 Albano Carrisi was ranked first, while Sanremo Festival 2011 third place.

The disappearance of daughter Ylenia

In 1994, the then 24 - year-old daughter shared by Carrisi and his then-wife Romina, Ylenia disappeared. The parents then gave up a missing person; various media from Italy and the USA reported for weeks about it.

Even before the separation and later divorce, the pair released the album emozionale with many allusions to the mysterious disappearance of their daughter. Especially the single Dammi un segno (Eng. Give me a sign ) gives an insight into the emotional turmoil of the parents.
