Bang Soo-hyun

Bang Soo- hyun (Korean 방수현; * September 13, 1972 ) is a former badminton player from South Korea.

Career

Bang Soo- hyun won the singles tournament of the Asian Games 1992. During the Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona in 1992 they moved into the finals of the singles tournament. In the semifinals Bang defeated the Chinese Huang Hua with 11:3 and 11:2. In the final, she met Susi Susanti, was subject to 11:5, 5:11 and 3:11 and so won the silver medal. 1993 Bang Soo -hyun won silver in the individual competition of the World Championships, 1995 Bronze. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, she defeated in the semifinals Susi Suranti with 11:9 and 11:8. In the final, she met Mia Audina and won with 11:6 and 11:7 the gold medal.

After the career end of 1996, Bang Soo- hyun worked between 2000 and 2002 as a trainer for the South Korean Badminton Association.
